Compare
Hello hello. This time I want to write a blog about comparing and contrast. Surely you already know that, but what do you think is the difference between the two? If you are still unsure about your answer, read the blog below…
Compare is an activity to compare something similar. Compare usually shows more similarities between two objects.
- The difference between comparing and contrast
1. The use of the word "compare" is used to describe the similarity between two objects
2. Compare is used to find similarities or differences.
3. Contrast is used to focus on distinguishing two objects
- Type of comparison
There are 3 types of degrees of comparison
1. Positive comparison
Generally referred to as a comparison that is equal or the same. Examples: easy, hard, big, small, etc. And followed by the format “as….” And is a form that must be followed in writing.
2. Comparative comparison
A word used to describe an object by comparing it with other objects. And generally called second-degree comparison. For example: bigger, smaller, etc.
Comparative sentence characteristics
- Usually marked with the word "than"
- Adding the word "more" in front of
- Adding the suffix r/er or irregular
3. Superlative comparison
The third type of comparison is used to compare 2 or more objects. This sentence is used for things that have the "most" nature compared to other things. Superlative comparison is always followed by "est" at the end of the word. For example: biggest, smallest, etc.
Example compare and contrast
Longan and Lanseh
Compare
1. Lanseeh and longan flesh is cloudy white
2. Are round and have the same size
3. Lanseh is yellowish while longan is golden yellow
So, Comparison and contrast are two words that generally tend to be used when you find similarities and differences between two things, places, animals, etc.
Thank you, happy reading..
